How can you open a door with your phone?
Have you locked yourself out again? Then take a look at a smart door lock. This way you ensure that you never lock yourself out again and you have a very safe lock. Did you know that you can often open an electric lock with your phone? In this step-by-step plan we explain how to do this.
Step 1: Choose a smart door lock that works with an app
Before you can open a door remotely via your phone, you will of course need a smart door lock. Nowadays, there are more and more smart door locks that work in different ways. A good example is the Klink Smart One from Klink, a lock that you can operate via an app.
Step 2: Install the lock at your home
Depending on the smart lock you have chosen, you may or may not need to replace the cylinder of your door. The cylinder is the part of the lock where you normally insert a key. In some cases, replacing the cylinder can be complicated, and it is then useful to call in a professional.
With the Klink smart lock, replacing the cylinder is not necessary. You only need to remove the existing door fitting and install the Klink door fitting. You can easily do this with a screwdriver or drill. As soon as the new fitting is firmly in place, the lock is ready for use.
Step 3: Download the app and connect it to your lock
Go to the App Store or Play Store on your phone or tablet and download the app that belongs to your smart door lock. In the packaging of the lock you will find a manual that explains how to link your account to the lock.
Step 4: Open your door with your phone
Now that you have downloaded the right app and paired it with your lock, you can easily open your door using your phone. But opening the door is not the only function the app offers.
The Smartklink app, which comes with the Klink Smart One, offers many more possibilities. For example, you can set a time lock for your locks, add fingerprints to give others access, see who has used the lock, and change the access code. It makes your door not only smart, but also versatile and user-friendly.
